Beeple (Mike Winkelmann)
World-Changing Crypto Artist
Mike Winkelmann, known professionally as Beeple, is a digital artist who has revolutionized the art world through his pioneering work with NFTs that often incorporate political satire, pop culture references, and dystopian themes.
Since 2007, Beeple has created and shared a new piece of digital art every day as part of his "Everydays" series, amassing over 6,000 consecutive days of artwork as of this year. In March 2021, Beeple's NFT Everydays: The First 5000 Days sold for $69.3 million at Christie’s—a watershed moment for NFTs and digital art, challenging traditional notions of value and ownership in the art world.
In the physical realm, Beeple’s groundbreaking kinetic sculptures have been shown in museums around the world, beginning with the display of his evolving Human One sculpture at the Castello di Rivoli in Italy in 2022. He currently is the subject of two exhibitions, a survey at the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing, China, and a show of recent work at the Gibbes Museum of Art in the artist’s hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
In 2023, Beeple opened Beeple Studios in Charleston, a 50,000-square-foot exhibition and event space dedicated to celebrating "digital weirdness" and fostering the broader NFT and digital art communities.
